great concept, get the larger sizes February 24, 2010 AmaZen (Lakewood, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i like the containers. they look great on the countertop, seal well, and save space.
however, i would definitely get the larger sizes individually as a previous reviewer indicated if i could do it again, as opposed to a 10-piece set. you can do more things with the larger containers, and the small sizes in the set are *really* small and useful for only a few things (most store-bought spices do come in their own containers, and are already labeled, so most folks would not use these small containers in the set for spice storage). i ended up buying a couple more larger size 4.5 and 5.5 containers to finish out my set.
Easy Airtight Storage February 17, 2010 J. Finkel (Hoboken, NJ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Pros:
+big push button easily seals and unseals lid
+rubber gaskets keep airtight seals to prolong shelf life
+rectangular shapes can be stacked and packed close together
+plastic is strong and doesn't seem to leech into food
+lids twist apart easily for cleaning
+All parts dishwasher safe on top rack
+good variety of sizes
Cons:
-somewhat expensive
-lids on smallest containers are almost as big as storage capacity
-no handles
-biggest containers are most useful, would have liked all containers a little bit taller
-no way to remove air from container, so food may not last as long as sealing with a foodsaver or even regular ziplock.
Overall, I'm very happy with my OXO good grips 10-piece container set. I will probably purchase a few more of the larger sized containers. Make sure to thoroughly dry them before filling with food, especially flour/rice/grains. Though food may last longer, don't get into a habit of refilling half empty flour containers over and over.
Ok containers, do everything they say they will... February 15, 2010 Amber Sobrio (Reno, NV) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These containers are ok. They seem to be airtight, are attractive and basically do what they're supposed to do. The problem is that they don't fit much because of the bulky lid. The ones that would be perfect for a bag of beans are just a tad too small and I wonder why they didn't design these things with basic pantry items in mind (pasta, rice, beans, and their "usual" package sizes). I want to buy a box of pasta, or a bag of beans, and have a container that will fit these perfectly with maybe a tad bit of room to spare. Instead, I have to use a container way too big because I need 20 beans worth of extra space, and then that container can't be used for something like sugar or flour. I purchased one set, and I think I will go with airtight glass canisters from here on out.
Love these and keep buying more and more February 3, 2010 C. Wentworth (Lancaster PA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love these storage containers! I haven't had any problems with any of them in shipping or at home. They are attractive, neat, and serve the purpose. I would reiterate what some other reviewers said...be aware that there are different shapes if you want to stack them. One thing that we won't know for a while is how the seal holds up and if you can purchase replacement seals. I'm particularly happy that my pet parrots can't rip the covers off of these like they do my tupperware and ziploc containers. They are worth the higher cost....they are reusable....less plastic in the landfill.
These things are awesome February 1, 2010 Samuel H. Dodson IV (Washington, DC) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
These storage containers are extremely durable and stackable. The quality is very high; my wife and I are extremely pleased with them. I highly recommend these for anyone looking to upgrade to high quality food storage.
