Convenient but breaks easiliy August 30, 2010 ede19 (West Hollywood, CA USA) I bought this a couple of weeks ago from Sur La Table locally. I used it one weekend to bring some cakes down to a friend's party and loved it. Very convenient.
Since it didn't feel that sturdy, I did hold it from below and didn't rely only on the carrying handle.
Just came back from a second party where I again used it successfully. Bringing it home empty but assembled, when removing it from my car, it fell on the ground. The little plastic piece on the top that snaps to the bottom (there are three), broke exactly where it attaches.
While I like this very much, I would prefer just to replace this little piece which snaps off and should only cost a couple of dollars to replace, rather than having to buy an entire new caddy - especially considering I only used it twice.
But for those two times, it was very handy. Although both times I used it, I was concerned about how well these little pieces would secure the top. It didn't feel like it would last that long, but I did think I would get more than two uses out of it. It was empty when it dropped - thank goodness. The interior trays flew on the ground.
Buying my second one now August 27, 2010 G. Kelley This cupcake carrier is the best of the 3 I've tested. Had to take the others back for a refund because they had serious defects and problems.
This carrier is both strong and versatile. I've used it for cakes, one dozen cupcakes or fully expanded it holds two dozen cupcakes with no problem. The cupcakes remain stable with no tipping and the little slots on either side of the cup holder makes it easy to remove the cupcake without touching the frosting. There is enough room between layers so that piped frosting remains untouched.
It collapses for easy storage and the locks are very secure. The trays can be used as a serving stand stacked or alone and makes a very pretty presentation. I'm buying my second one and another for a gift for my daughter who loves it as much as I do. My friends are impressed and I think you will be too.
Love the Versatility August 16, 2010 Trina E. Robota (WASHINGTON, MI, US) This cupcake/cake carrier was exactly what I had been searching for. I go from carrying, to storing, to serving all with this one product.
What I expected August 15, 2010 Missy I bought this to carry my cupcakes in, not so much as a cake carrier. Its done exactly what I wanted it to do. People have wrote that the handle broke. I personally found that I don't really even use the handle. I carry it by hand so that wasn't an issue for me. It has grooves in each cupcake holder making retrieving it easier. I LOVE that it collapses, but it takes a lot of muscle strength to collapse it! I have had no issues with cupcakes tipping over or anything. It works well and I've received lots of complements on it.
First use a disaster August 8, 2010 Lily 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
So I read all the reviews before I purchased this item. I was so happy to find a carrier that would allow for tall frosting. I decided, after reading the reviews, to not use the handle. I carried from the bottom which caused one of the flimsy locks to disengage and the bottom to fall off. I lost 24 ornate cupcakes destined for a birthday party. I am so angry that I bothered. I had to run to a very expensive cupcake store to buy overpriced and not fresh replacements. This sucker is going back!
