This is a great re-usable mug. It doesn't leak at all. I use it at Starbucks every morning, and the employees there always comment on how nice it is. I have several and rotate them throughout the week.

I am always searching for reuseable coffee mugs that are dishwasher safe and was so happy to find this mug. I purchased the chalkboard color (it's similar to the greenish chalkboards of the 80's). It washes well and holds nearly two cups of coffee and keeps it hot!

I don't understand why this has such good reviews. Even the person who gave all the negatives rated it 3 stars.
Pros: Looks nice, decent price, microwave/dishwasher safe, fits in cup-holder, works as a NON-travel mug.
Cons: Leaks! Does not sip well! Does not travel well!
The issue is not the lid itself, which has a rubber gasket and fits well. There's a rotating plastic tab to cover/uncover the opening, and it always leaks. Tilt it, and it will leak. I don't like coffee or tea, I drink either hot chocolate, hot lemonade, or hot limeade. These taste better when shaken periodically, but try that with this mug and you'll burn your hand. I even tried pressing down tight on the tab while shaking, to no avail. I ask what is the point of a travel mug that is unsuitable for travel? Furthermore, it's difficult to sip from the lid. There's a very fine line for safe sipping: don't tilt enough and nothing comes out; tilt too much and it gushes out and you'll burn your nose and chin. If your car hits a bump while you're sipping, be ready for some mild burns and a wet shirt.
Bottom line: It's a travel mug that's horrible for travel. Works ok at home without the lid. But then, why wouldn't you just use a normal ceramic mug?

Dishwasher safe! June 22, 2010
Just Another Shopper
It amazes me the plethora of travel mugs that are not dishwasher safe. Go to any store, pick up a mug and look at the bottom and you will often see that they are handwash-only, not dishwasher safe. These Aladdin version mugs are dishwasher safe, and also labeled microwave safe though that is not a feature I require. I lead a busy life "on the go" and one that does not covet the handwash experience. Put it in the machine, push the button, and move on!
